Swine flu death rate similar to
seasonal flu: according to expert

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The death rate from the pandemic H1N1 swine flu
is likely lower than earlier estimates, an expert in infectious diseases
said on Wednesday.
New estimates suggest that the death rate compares to a moderate year of
seasonal influenza, said Dr Marc Lipsitch of Harvard University.
"It's mildest in kids. That's one of the really good pieces of news in
this pandemic," Lipsitch told a meeting of flu experts being held by the
U.S. Institute of Medicine.
"Barring any changes in the virus, I think we can say we are in a
category 1 pandemic. This has not become clear until fairly recently."
The Pandemic Severity Index set by the U.S. government has five
categories of pandemic, with a category 1 being comparable to a seasonal
flu epidemic.
Seasonal flu has a death rate of less than 0.1 percent -- but still
manages to kill 250,000 to 500,000 people globally every year

IV Vitamin C Used to
Recover Terminal Swine Flu Case

Dr. Thomas Levy sent me a case report where vitamin C was used to completely
cure a case of swine flu. He says that adequately dosed vitamin C, to his
knowledge, has never failed to cure an acute viral syndrome.
According to information he received from a colleague in New Zealand, John
Appleton, the following occurred:
A Waikato farmer went to Fiji for a holiday and started developing flu-like
symptoms, but decided to tough it out. He arrived back in New Zealand very sick
with swine flu.
Tauranga Hospital was not able to treat him (what was not known at the time is
that he has leukemia -- he didn't know either.) They sent him to Auckland
Hospital, but he continued to deteriorate, despite the use of Tamiflu and
antibiotics.
His brother-in-law (who knows a bit about vitamin C) contacted Dr. Thomas Levy
in the U.S., who referred him to Dr. Appleton.
Dr. Appleton provided a lot of information on vitamin C and referred the family
to CAM (Centre for Advanced Medicine), www.camltd.co.nz in Auckland. The family
pushed to get him some IV vitamin C, but the hospital refused. CAM doctors
encouraged the hospital to try vitamin C.
The patient deteriorated further and was on life support. The family was told
nothing more could be done and life support would be switched off. His lungs
were not functioning. The family said NO -- not until everything has been tried.
The hospital was pushed hard to give him IVC and reluctantly agreed, saying if
there was no improvement by Friday, that's it.
The patient showed signs of improvement by Wednesday, to the hospital?s
surprise.
Concerns were expressed about his kidneys, and a new specialist wanted to stop
the vitamin C use -- the family was told his liver was failing, ?caused by
vitamin C?.
Dr. Appleton gave them data showing the liver is more likely to be affected by
antibiotics.
Patient recovery continued to the point where he could be transferred to Waikato
(closer to home). He was still on a ventilator and NG tube feeding. The doctors
there were more receptive to vitamin C, but wouldn't agree to continue the
treatment.
The family got a high profile lawyer involved who wrote a letter about patient
rights and called the hospital to recommend that they sort it out with the
family.
As a result, the hospital continued with IVC, albeit at a much lower dose. A CAM
doctor traveled to Waikato to endorse the treatment and recommend IVC at higher
doses. The patient continued to recover -- he was now conscious.
The hospital staff was stunned -- they had never seen anything like this.
The patient was told by his brother-in-law that IVC had saved him. The patient?s
wife had not lost her husband and the children have their father. The patient
was by this time fully 'with it' and talking normally with family and taking
Lypospheric vitamin C (6 grams daily).
For those doctors wondering about doses, Dr. Levy communicated directly with the
brother-in-law to find out.
?On the Tuesday following the initial "deadline," 25 grams were given
intravenously.
?On Wednesday, 25 gram infusions were again repeated twice.
?Thursday the patient received 75 grams.
?Starting on Friday he received 100 grams intravenously and stayed at this dose
daily for another 4 to 6 days.
Then the new consultant had the vitamin C discontinued completely.
One week later, the IVC was restarted at only one gram twice daily.
Dr. Levy encourages everyone to resend this case history to any and all who you
think could benefit, including your friends and contacts in the government.
Obviously, a reasonable daily dose of vitamin C could be expected to do an even
better job at preventing H1N1 while having no downside relative to the mass
vaccinations getting ready to take place.

A Garden
Produces More Than Just Veggies!
As I
watched the bees buzz around our garden I got to thinking about the
contribution that will come from their buzzing and gathering nectar…
Honey being the top one along with a few others! A garden gives off more
than just vegetables!
Bees, just like medicine, have their specialty field as you will see
when reading this article. Honey
that has long been known in folk medicine circles as a "magic elixir" is
known to have antioxidant properties, which we know is necessary to ward
off illness and diseases. After adding 4 tablespoons of buckwheat honey
(buckwheat honey comes from bees that gather their pollen from the
buckwheat plant only) to their daily diet, participants in a study
showed an increase in their levels of antioxidants in their blood. But
when it comes to antioxidants, not all honey is created equal: The
darker the honey, the more antioxidants it has.
Vitamins in honey are said to be A, B1 (Thiamin), B2 (Riboflavin),
Nicotinic acid (niacin), B6 (Pyridoxine), B12 (Cyanocobaltamine, C
(Ascorbic acid), D, E (Tocopherol), H (Biotin), Pantothenic acid and
Folic acid. Minerals in honey are said to be Calcium, Copper, Iodine,
Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorous, Potassium, Sodium and Zinc. Honey has
tested out to have antibacterial properties as well as sterilizing of
wounds and sores. Whether it's the make up or the way the different
vitamins and minerals are put together in honey, we don't know but it is
a known medicinal addition.
Honey is known to improve food assimilation and useful for chronic and
infective intestinal problems such as constipation, duodenal ulcers and
liver disturbances. Reports abound with successful treatment of various
gastrointestinal disorders. Honey, when poured into open wounds, bed
sores, ulcers, varicose ulcers and burns, twice a day heals the worst of
the worst. It prevents infections, promotes tissue regeneration, and
reduces scarring best when used in its pure, unprocessed form. If
applied immediately, honey reduces blistering of burns and speeds
regeneration of new tissue. Many case histories are reported of this
happening. Homogenized honey isn't useful for anything but a
sweetener as the healing properties are removed in the
homogenization process.
In the alternatives health communities non-homogenized honey is a
well known remedy for colds and mouth, throat or bronchial
irritations and infections. The benefits, apart from antibacterial
effects, are assumed to relate to the soothing and relaxing effect of
fructose.
Honey,
beeswax, and various other bee products have quite a following in many
Asian countries, as well as in Russia and the rest of Eastern Europe.
One of the biggest health claims is that bee venom cures multiple
sclerosis, but I find no historical cases to back up the claim even
though I've read of people using bee stings for that purpose as well as
for arthritis. I don't doubt it though...
Honey is far better to use as a sweetener for diabetics than sugar as
insulin levels are lower when compared to the uptake of equal caloric
values of other foods. My belief is, nature made our body's to react to
natural substances better than man made sugar, and some data exists to
back up that belief.
Then, there's the purity of beeswax candles compared to the paraffin
candles most people burn in their homes. I hate to break it to you
romantic types, but paraffin candles are just a spiffed-up version of
petroleum products with large doses of chemical fragrance. And they
release decidedly unromantic elements, such as soot and smoke, while
burning. Burning paraffin candles has been compared to breathing in
diesel fumes. I don't know about you, but that would kill the mood for
me. But beeswax candles don't have that problem. In fact, burning
beeswax produces negative ions, which are nature's air purifiers.
Honey can be used as an alternative to sugar in baking, cereals and any
thing you want to add a bit of flavor!
If you find yourself with a cough make your own cough syrup.
Herbal/Honey cough syrup
1 tablespoon licorice root
1 tablespoon marshmallow root
1 tablespoon plantain leaf
1 teaspoon thyme leaf
1 pint purified/filtered water
4 tablespoons honey
1/8 teaspoon anise essential oil (optional)
Prepare a triple-strength tea by simmering the herbs in water for 10
minutes, then steeping for 20 minutes. Strain the tea, then stir in
honey and glycerin while the tea is still warm. Add optional essential
oil. Take 1 tablespoon at a time. Stored in a cool place, this syrup
will keep for 2 weeks. In the refrigerator, it will keep for several
months.
These
recipes are suitable for children, but not for infants, who should not
have honey.
Honey Cough Syrup w/o herbs
6
fresh garlic cloves (minced)
2 cups purified/filtered water
1 tablespoon white vinegar
3/4 cup honey
Bring water and minced garlic to a boil. Turn burner off and let steep
for about 20 minutes OR put into Vita Mixer and liquefy (no vitamixer -
let set until cool, then strain). Add vinegar and honey mix well and let
sit until cool, then refrigerate.
1 Tablespoon three or four times a day. Much better than any
over-the-counter cough preparations!

Autumn
and The Death of Your Immune System!
Autumn leaves are beginning to turn in some areas of the world
with that beauty of the fall lies danger.
The cold and flu season is just around the corner. As the summer
humidity drops and more people are stuck indoors germs begin
building up ready for to attack any body with a weak immune
system.
The dryer winter air helps germs move more freely thereby making
it risky to be in a room full of people without having a strong

Christmas. The germfest habit continues through the New Year's
celebrating. The death of the immune system becomes more severe
with each holiday merriment and parties and continues for
several weeks after New Years.
Prepare you and your family to be free from that trend! In a few
short days and at worst a few short weeks you can prepare your
household to be virus-proof this winter!
Start by removing the stagnant summer junk food from your body.
That can be done very simply or with difficulty, depending on
how severe it is. Here is a detoxing juice that is not only
pleasant to taste but does its job.
Detox with a delightful juice drink.
1/2 cup wheatgrass or fresh parsley
(wheatgrass is a sweeter taste.)
3 carrots
2 apples
2 stalks celery
1/2 beet with top
If you do not have a Vita Mixer be sure to remove apple seeds..
Wash each one and cut into small pieces for juicer. If using a
juicer bunch up wheatgrass or parsley and push trough the juicer
with the aid of a carrot.
Detox is an example of a "green" juice. Green juices are always

pollutants, detoxify the liver and have a rejuvenating effect.
Then add a liquid, powder or capsule complete 84 mineral
