Cut
challenges down to size
Unlike most
things, challenges almost always look bigger and more
imposing from a distance than they do when you get close to
them. Most of the challenges you're avoiding will not seem
nearly so overwhelming when you choose to actually face
them.
The challenges that intimidate you require your assistance
to do so. On their own, they're really not so tough, yet in
your imagination they can grow to monstrous proportions.
The way to cut those challenges down to size is to get busy
working on them. Once you're immersed in the details you'll
realize that they're not so bad after all.
How many times have you desperately avoided something, only
to discover later that there was really no reason to avoid
it at all? Very often, the effort spent avoiding a difficult
challenge is more demanding and burdensome than the
challenge itself.
What have you been avoiding because you just didn't want to
deal with it? Imagine how great it will be to have that
burden fall completely away.
Go ahead, pick a challenge that has been intimidating you,
and get busy working your way through it. Then, instead of
living with constant intimidation you'll be enjoying the
real value you've just created.

Master Mind Mis-Understandings

Many of the great personal development books, in order
to be extremely successful, suggest that one of the
things that we need to do is to form a master mind
group. And it's a very good idea, of course. However,
and this does not apply to everyone, but there is a
common mis-understanding as to what a mastermind group
is and how to form one.
I'm going to use the example of our buddy Donald J.
Trump. Trump has a mastermind group. He probably doesn't
call it a master mind group, but he has one, and has had
one for a very long time. It's a major key to his
success.
YOU don't ask Donald Trump to be in your master mind
group. If you are to be in his MMG, he would ask you.
What he doesn't do. He doesn't and didn't in his
beginnings of forming his mastermind group, run around
asking others to be in his group of people who wanted to
be rich and wealthy.
That is not a mastermind group, and is not how to form
one.
Quoting the still famous book, "Think and Grow Rich"
(Napoleon Hill): On Andrew Carnegie; Surrounded
himself with a staff of 50 men for the definite purpose
of manufacturing and marketing steel. (end quote)
To be more specific, The above stated purpose was
Carnegie's purpose, 'his' purpose, manufacturing and
marketing steel. It was not necessarily the definite
purpose of the other 50 staffers. They may have had
their own individual purposes, but Carnegie had the
master vision and was smart enough as is Mr. Trump to
surround himself with the best people to help him
manifest his defined and definite purpose.
Since I seem to enjoy using cookie batter as examples
and analogies, here's one: When the definite purpose is
to make and eat chocolate chip cookies, then we surround
the mixing bowl with all of the ingredients that will
give us our particular and specific chocolate chip
cookies. Our ingredients, won't include things like
nails and duck tape. The Master Mind Cookie Bowl only
surrounds itself with the ingredients to make the
intended cookies, the chocolate chip cookies.
There is nothing new about this, no aha moment. Just a
reminder that wanting to pull a group of people together
who all want to be millionaires for the sake of being
millionaires, is not the definition of Master Mind Group
in its pureness.
A Master Mind Group is formed by one individual who
leads the vision for what HE wants to accomplish. The
rest of the individuals fill in the white space of that.
They may all not become rich and wealthy within the
confines of the primary vision maker, but simply in
association with the same level of energy, may very well
hit their own stride in an entirely different area.
Bottom line: If we intend on accomplishing something of
great value to ourselves and others, we all need help in
doing so. It's that help, which then becomes the members
of our master mind group, merely by definition.
Do you have a master mind group? Or are you more a
member of someone else's? Do you first have a definite
purpose for which you intend to manifest? It is then,
with our purpose clearly and specifically defined in
our own minds, that we then seek and attract our Master
Mind Group. Choosing to Be part of someone else's
vision, and or developing one on our own.
Can we do both? Well of course we can!

Change Means Action

"Progress is a nice word. But change is its motivator.
And change has its enemies." - Robert Kennedy
Change does have enemies and Robert Kennedy knew that truth
and paid for it with his blood. Change can be dangerous.
That is why our natural instinct is to stay the course; stay
put; avoid trying something new; leaving well enough alone;
being safe; and I could mention another twenty or so
excuses. If you are the type that wants to stay in your
comfort zone, you will never experience the immense joy that
comes from living. In order to succeed we must take risks
and that means we have to change. Robert Kennedy said this
in the context of politics. He referred to making progress
as a nation. The only way to make progress as a nation is to
change our point of view, to change the way we govern
ourselves, to change certain laws that are unfair, and
change the way we deal with the bad guys.
But his words can apply to any aspect of life, not just
politics. In my career as a trainer I can say that change is
the one thing that is needed the most and done the least. I
have seen people go way out of their way just to avoid
change. I trained adults in job readiness skills. Let me
tell you that there were times I couldn't even get an adult
to change their seat after 20 minutes of being seated in
class. That is how ridiculous we can get about change. We
all need to train ourselves to be more open. But it goes
further than that.
Change is an action word and that means we need to act if we
are going to progress. Change is not a theoretical practice
of the mind, it implies real physical movement. For example,
we may say that we have changed our attitude towards
someone, but unless that is followed up by an action towards
that certain person, they are only shallow words. Change
means to repent. I instantly scare people away as soon as I
say that because of the religious overtones. Well you can
apply this to religion if you like. All I am saying is when
someone says to you to repent, it simply means to change
what you are doing. Change requires 3 things. The first is
to recognize the need to change. The second is you actually
do the action that is required. The third is you maintain
the new course of action. Those happen to be the same three
things involved in repentance. They say that recognizing
that you need to change is half the battle and that is so
true in my experience. The changing part is actually a lot
less difficult to do than the first part which again is
recognizing that you need to change. The final part is easy.
It just requires that you keep on doing the new action over
and over again. The second part in the middle means you must
turn around and do something different to prove that what
you recognized as needed to be done will be done. Change is
empowering no matter how small it is as long as it is
positive. Today, why not give change a chance and perform an
action that you know needs to be done in your life. You will
be gratified and empowered when you do it!
