Study Contradictions and The Real
Story Behind GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux)
A new study compares the effectiveness of a popular
antacid to surgery for patients who suffer from severe GERD...are those
the only choices?
They would like you to think those medications are the only choice over
surgery. Sadly what the study results don't tell you; these meds are
ineffective and dangerous. They're also among Big Pharma's biggest
sellers. They don't want to risk it all by comparing them to something
that would actually treat thwe problem!
The researchers compared the proton pump inhibitor omeprazole, which is
often sold as Prilosec, to the surgical procedure.
Not that it matters, because it's a lousy study funded by Big Pharma
company...but after 12 years, the researchers found neither method to be
especially great. The surgery patients had somewhat better control of
their symptoms -- but what is enlightening is that 38% of the study
group ended up on the meds anyway.
The pill poppers, on the other hand, didn't have to worry about the
complications and side effects of surgery. Sadly they should be very
worried about the effects of 12 years of drug use on the stomach -- it
is not a pretty picture!
These over-prescribed meds not only have nasty side effects, but they'll
actually make acid reflux problems like GERD worse, not better, over the
long term - especially if you try to stop taking them.
In most Gerd cases, reflux is caused by too LITTLE acid, not too much.
Even if you have a doctor astute enough to realize this (and you
probably don't), he'll try to get you to take hydrochloric acid tablets
to make up for what's missing but that has problems and really doesn't
heal GERD.

Grain Alternative and Nutrient Rich:
One of our comfort foods in the winter. A few short
years ago my husband had no idea what Quinoa was even though he had
eaten it many times.
One of the grains, relatively unknown, tops in nutrients, is Quinoa.
Pronounced keen-wah, this gluten-free grain is grown in the Andes
Mountains in South America where it was once a staple food for the
Incas. Vegetarians and people with food allergies will find quinoa a
welcome choice; it's gluten-free and provides a remarkably full of
nutrients.
Quinoa has a delicious light, nutty flavor. When it cooks, the grain
opens up to make tiny spirals. Quinoa contains all eight amino acids and
therefore has better protein value than most grains. A nutrient-dense
grain; perfect for those who have elevated needs, such as pregnant or
nursing mothers.

It's a complete protein, comparable to milk, according to the World
Health Organization. For anybody who has an interest in health - and for
the many people who have allergies to common grains - it's a delicious

and cystine. Besides its unique protein, quinoa also provides starch,
sugars, oil (high in essential linoleic acid), fiber, minerals, and
vitamins.
Quinoa's greatest hurdle is that it's still relatively unknown to many
cooks, even those with an interest in whole foods and natural
approaches. For the many people who have limited food choices now you
can use quinoa.
A simple recipe for preparing quinoa breakfast dish;
1 cup quinoa
Pinch of sea salt
1 3/4 cups water
I sometimes add either a few drops of Organic Blue Agave sweetener
or 1/4 cup raisins for the grandkids.
A MUST DO: Rinse quinoa well with warm water and drain. Quinoa has a
natural coating called saponin that repels insects and birds that
creates a bitter taste. Rinsing with warm water removes the saponin.
Place rinsed quinoa, salt, and water in a pot. Bring to a boil, reduce
heat to low, cover, and let simmer 15-20 minutes, until all the water is
absorbed. (If adding fruit or sweetener do so now) Fluff with a fork
before serving.
Makes 2 ? to 3 cups
Healthy and nourishing adding a bit of change to the diet is great and
in the winter is a stick-to-the-stomach food but also a great summer
food!

Sadly food
alone cannot yield all the necessary healthy nutrients - especially
balance of minerals - as they did in centuries past. BUT this one
is close to a perfect prevention food! But we can't rely
totally on our food intake! Because of the lack of nutrients in our

Reduction Could Save As Many As 92,000 lives?

Headline above, is it true?
That was the
health headlines on 1/21/2010, but is it accurate? Yes,
because those researchers haven't a clue as to what is true
salt! So yes, stopping table salt as it is known to most of the
world could save billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands
of lives yearly!
But what they are calling salt is a misnomer! What those
researchers and the average person call salt isn't really salt
by the time it gets to your table and yes that product does
created severe health risks. Regular table salt, as we know it,
is processed and utilized as a foreign body/chemical by the body
that consumes it! How can I say that?
Common table salt consumed by most is deficit of 81
elements and containing byproducts from the processing, which
means we are somehow contributing to becoming weaker, imbalanced
and more susceptible to diseases.
What we know about regular table salt!
Table salt produced by the early pioneers was of excellent
quality and full of those necessary mineral elements, but man
looked for something more convenient and that convenience in a
product means processing everything out that is good for us,
which is what happened to table salt!
Our regular table salt no longer has anything in common with the
original crystal salt. Salt these days is mainly sodium chloride
and not salt. The common commercial table salt used by most
people for cooking has only 2 or 3 mineral elements. Old world
salt had 84 mineral elements.
While preprocessed salt starts out as salt, it seldom ever ends
up as salt. Normal table salt begins as a saline solution. Then
after processing and kiln drying at temperatures in excess of
400 degrees its natural state is changed and nearly all trace
minerals are lost losing the right to call itself true salt.
Then chemicals are added like Silico Aluminate, Potassium
Iodide, Tri-calcium Phosphate, Magnesium Carbonate, Sodium
bicarbonate, and yellow prussiate of soda just to name a few.
These are added to bleach the salt, prevent caking and aid in
free-flowing so your salt will not clump and harden on rainy
days. But what are those additives doing to your body? Causing
early deaths!
The sad thing is that the Food & Drug Administration usually
lets companies leave their processing aides off of their
ingredient lists, as long as the material is being used in a
small-enough concentration.
Did you know that two of the inorganic chemicals used in
processing salt is also used to make many consumer related
products, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic and other
non-consumable products?
Other additives used in processing are anti-caking agents such
as calcium silicate, magnesium carbonate, calcium carbonate, and
other compounds. They are insoluble in water, which not only
prevents them from forming clumps in humid environments - thus
keeping the soluble crystals of sodium chloride separate - but
also explains why water becomes slightly cloudy when so-called
salt processed with those additives is dissolved. These are all
odorless and flavorless substances and contribute nothing to our
body but what do they do once inside our body? We can only guess
as studies have not been done to tell us exactly. I do know when
I put my sea salt in water it doesn't become cloudy. Something
you need to know is; all sea salt labeled as sea salt is not
honest labeling so I suggest you do the water dissolving test to
see whether yours is honestly labeled or not!
Kosher salt is an additive-free coarse grained salt, used by
Jews in the preparation of meat. It is also used by gourmet
cooks who prefer its texture and flavor, which is good for those
who eat their food.
Honestly labeled Sea Salt or Kosher Salt is how you get real
salt. Our bodies NEED SALT to be healthy and studies done
watching people who went on salt-free diets have shown that
those who go on a salt-free diet has 4X the risk of dying of
heart failure and/or heart disease then those who consume real
salt daily!
